Ever since Pres. Nelson’s talk last year about re-emphasizing the proper name of the Church, I have wondered about whether to rename this blog and, if so, to what. I don’t post here terribly often, and I don’t get a lot of traffic here, so I wondered if it was worth the effort.
Earlier this month, listening to General Conference, I decided it was. And then I thought of a great new name of the blog: Adventures in Restoration.
To be honest, I like that better than the old name. Not only does it broaden the scope (to include other ‘Restoration churches’ descending from Joseph Smith, the First Vision, and the Book of Mormon), but it reflects recent statements by Latter-day Saint leaders that “the Restoration is still going on.” In particular, it ties well into Pres. Russell M. Nelson’s comments made last year:
If you think the Church has been fully restored, you’re just seeing the beginning. . . . Wait till next year, and then the next year. Eat your vitamin pills. Get some rest. It’s going to be exciting.
Buckle up, indeed.
P.S. On the other hand, it’s not a simple matter to change the actual domain name for the entire website, ensure that all links update properly, etc. That will probably take me a few more weeks.
